Are you ready to learn how to snowboard now?
Check this out:
Riding is not difficult once you understand the basics. You have probably seen riders tear it up and wondered if you would ever be able to shred.
Fortunately, you do not need to be especially physically gifted or have been riding since you were 5 years old to achieve a high level of skill.
To begin you will need a good how to snowboard instructor or coach, slope and of course a board and then you can just get on with it.
What about the gear you will need? For beginners most snowboarding schools will supply the board, bindings and necessary gear so you can begin anytime. If you do not live near a slope that you could learn how to snowboard, many cities have an inside snowboard park where you can practice.
You need to begin your snowboard training now, before you travel to a slope or a park.
More about the art of snowboarding itself:
Step 1: Preparation. Dress in comfortable loose clothing. Do not forget gloves, goggles and a hat. Also your wrists can be very vulnerable especially if you're a beginner. You might want to consider wearing wrist guards and helmet.
Step 2:Place your foot in the bindings (where you place your feet on a snowboard).
You need to do this in a flat area first. This is so you can become used to what it feels like to be on snowboard without actually sliding. You will need to practice this a few times to gain confidence and become one with your snowboard before you hit the slopes.
First place your front foot in the front binding. Then place your back foot in the back binding. Start to roll from back to front and then bounce and pop.
This will help to develop feel and poise with the snowboard.
Step 3. First Steps. Find a surface with a slight incline, practice sliding with your front foot still in the binding and your back foot out. Keep your body upright and do this without looking down. Balance is the key so keep working at it until you feel comfortable.
Step 4. The Heelside Slide. You need to sit down and have both feet strapped to the snowboard. With the snowboard perpendicular to a small slope, stand up so you are looking down the slope. Your weight will be on your heels. Point your toes forward and start to slide down the hill. Pull back up on your toes to stop. Repeat this until you get the feel of pulling up on your toes to come to a stop.
Step 5. Skating. You will need to be able to 'Skate' before you ride the chairlift! Push off the snow with your back foot and slide your front foot forward with the snowboard. Your back foot can push from either side. Practice until you feel comfortable.
Good luck!
